Just in the last few weeks I've become obsessed with kimonos. We've hit June gloom here in SoCal, so with the overcast days, a light cardigan just perfect. Girl Charlee sent me this fun tie-dye fabric, and although I had plans to make something else with it, I suddenly had the idea to make a kimono with it and it couldn't have turned out more perfectly. The best part is that this project took a total of 30 minutes to make because it's just a few cuts and a few seams -- so easy! Make one, make ten, make one for all your friends!

I could not agree more; they're perfect! I haven't found a fabric I love yet. I was eyeing a similar fabric from wanderlust fabrics that is also tie dye. I was thinking of using a salmi pattern kimono top with the tie dye fabric. I can't commit to the fabric though, as much as I like it, all I can think of are the ill-fitting/too big tie dye tees I wore when I was younger. Eeep lol.

ReplyDeleteThank you for showing how simple it is. I've been wanting to make one since last year. Tonight I've refashioned two shawls I used when I was nursing and made a kimono from some knit I bought last fall. Now I new to find a bright print to make another for this summer!
