INSTAGRAM ROUND-UP (FASHION WEEK EDITION)

If you've been following along on Instagram, you'll see I was in New York this past week for Fashion Week! I've been hoping to go for a few years, and this year I finally made it happen. Even better was that I was able to go out with my best friend, Leanne. 

It was a whirlwind five days, but we an absolutely incredible time. 

I'll be sharing more about my time there in the coming weeks, including some style and beauty tips, and sewing projects inspired by the fashion I saw there, but today I'm rounding up all my outfits I wore while I was there. 

In the morning on day one I wore this suede dress that I posted yesterday.  That evening we had one event and one show, so I wore this gorgeous navy blue fit and flare dress.

This dress sold out in most sizes now (and every time a new size becomes available it quickly gets snatched up), but I'll keep watching and let you know if it gets restocked. But I linked a few similar ones in the widget below!

I wore this dress to church while we were there. It's such a comfy dress, and I'm not usually a maxi dress kind of girl, but I love this one.

After two full days in heels, my feet were hating me. So I wore these metallic sneaks with my outfit for our morning meetings. They run big, so size down a half size!

Going to shows in the fashion week tents in Moynihan Station was such a thrill. This white dress was perfect for an evening of shows and a party. Except the party had no food, so we bailed and went to Shake Shack to get a burger and fries. As you do in your fanciest clothes ;)

The next day was a morning of meetings, filming, and a group lunch, so I wore this suede midi skirt I made. I paired it with this super cute striped neck tie top I picked up for only $18!

Our last night in the city was busy with a bunch of events crammed into a few hours. I wore this gorgeous cream lace dress, but was wishing I'd thought to bring a black ribbon to tie around the neck. I think it would have completed the look. Oh, and when one of our shows got moved back an hour, we grabbed an uber and drove over to grab a slice of NY Pizza. Thankfully we had no spills!

A couple of weeks ago I headed down to Phoenix to speak at Say Hi Society's fall conference about Instagram. (you can see my facebook live video of it here).

This cardigan sweater is the perfect traveling layer -- it's lightweight, but still keeps you warm if you need it. And of course my favorite sneakers are also great for traveling.

INSTAGRAM ROUND-UP + A WEEKEND GETAWAY TO BEVERLY HILLS

It's been a busy few weeks around here with lots of travel from both Philip and me. We're like ships passing in the night these days and can hardly keep track of each other's schedules!

But we're trying to soak up the last few weeks of summer with fun and low-key days for the boys before we dive back into routine.

Last weekend a few of my California blogger friends met up for a 24 hour stay at the Beverly Hilton. We started the evening with dinner at Ceccino's (where I had the most amazing dover sole), and dessert at Sprinkles Ice Cream.  

Pretty Plum Sugar sent us these gorgeous robes so we all piled in one hotel room dressed like twins and chatted til 2:30 am. Seemed like a good idea except that we signed up for an 8am spin class at FlyWheel the following morning. I'd only done one spin class before, but this one was in a big, dark room with super loud music so it was easy to just get in the zone and push myself. Totally want to find one in my area because it was such a great workout. 

Our hotel rooms at the Beverly Hilton were pool level and opened right up to the cabanas, so we took full advantage of the gorgeous pool area. After spin class we had breakfast by the pool (their omelet bar was insanely good), and then sat by the pool in their gorgeous cabanas. 

We finished the day with a lunch custom made by the on-sight chef. They spoiled us rotten with appetizers, gorgeous desserts, and amazing entrees. It was a completely whirlwind 24 hours, and exhausting, but so rejuvenating to share ideas and insights with likeminded women. Here's a few pictures of our weekend.

One of our favorite family date nights is to go get Pho. My boys love, and it's a good filling dinner that's pretty healthy. We have tried so many different places and finally found our favorite one a few months ago. Now we go at least once a month, and of course we always get mango boba smoothies with our soup. 

I wore this dress for our monthly pho dinner and it's the perfect lightweight dress that's easy to transition from summer to fall. It's on sale right now and comes in olive green too! I'm wearing a size small.

You guys have been asking about military style jackets for ages, and I love this one that's on sale right now! It's so soft and feels so "lived-in." I'm wearing an XS (which is my normal size for jackets).

A basic momiform from a few days ago. These jeans are my favorite boyfriend jeans! The way I keep from looking to masculine in boyfriend jeans is to add something feminine, like a lace or eyelet top, a feminine purse, heels, or some statement jewelry.

It's been a busy few weeks around here with our trip to Palm Springs last weekend and then a three day trip to New York this week. But I still wanted to share a few of my outfits since some of the pieces are on sale and I don't want you to miss them!

This week I took a quick trip to New York City to meet with Vanity Fair for some fun upcoming projects. For dinner our first night I wore this gorgeous crocheted dress and it was a fun twist on the classic LBD. 

I love that it's easy to dress up but would also look amazing with flat sandals or even simple sneakers for a dressed down look.

These cut-out boots are so perfect for fall and super comfortable. It's just really hard to decide between black or tan!

I mostly had to attend events and meetings while in NYC, but we had a few free hours on our first morning so we walked down to the Empire State Building and the Flat Iron. It was so hot that day so I ended up changing, but this white dress is one of my very favorites.

I love a good black and white outfit! This striped peplum is on sale during the anniversary sale and I love the statement it makes with a pair of black flats and white jeans.

I picked up these blush flats during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and I'm obsessed with them. Online they look more like nude, but in person they're a gorgeous blush. They will go with everything, and they're great for all seasons.

Last week my best friend, Leanne, and I went downtown LA to celebrate our birthdays, which are four days apart. We both showed up wearing white jeans, black tops, brown sandals, and brown bags -- completely unplanned! We fabric shopped, and then got dressed up for a fancy dinner at the LA City Club on the 51st floor of one of the high rises. The views were incredible. I wore this dress!

To extend my birthday celebrations, we headed down to Desert Springs Resort for a little weekend getaway. It's blazing hot, but we've had so much fun regardless. I'll be sharing photos and a little video on the blog later this week!

Day two at the pool was even hotter and the water was like a bathtub...not very refreshing! But the boys still loved it and we got away from all the weekend crowds by staying away from the main pool, and instead heading to the family pool which was perfect.

These sandals were great for the pool, and I'll definitely wear them to the beach when we're back home, but I also love how they make a statement with a simple summer outfit, like a white button down or a white summer dress.
