PAJAMA TO TRACK PANTS REFASHION

A few months ago I did a little poll on instagram while making a pair of track pants -- straight leg, or cuffed? I ended up going with cuffed, and I'm excited to finally share the final result! Instead of making them from scratch, I found these cute pajama pants at Target in a pretty color and subtle pattern and did an easy refashion. The project was quick and easy, and turned out so cute, if I do say so myself. Plus, they're insanely comfortable since they're originally pj's!

Also, these photos were taking before I chopped a few inches off my hair and it's making me miss those long locks like crazy. Grow, hair, grow!

Happy Friday, and happy Fourth of July!

6 WAYS TO WEAR TRACK PANTS (WITHOUT LOOKING LIKE YOU'RE WEARING PAJAMAS)

Track pants are one of those trends that I was super dubious about at first. Although the idea of wearing something that felt like pajamas, I didn't want to walk around looking like I was wearing pajamas. But once I actually owned a few pairs, and figured out how to wear them well, I was totally sold on them. I mean, when you can look put together and be insanely comfortable at the same time, I'm so on board.

I'm sure some of you are still unsure about this trend, so I teamed up with Melissa, of I Still Love You, to show you 6 ways to wear track pants, without looking like you're wearing pajamas!

First up, Business.

Just because these pants feel like jammies, doesn't mean they can't become professional for a day at the office! You'll thank me too when you're incredibly comfy all day long (although your boss might not if you fall asleep on the job)! Throw them on with a blazer and heels, or a structured blouse, both of which will offset the slouchiness of the pants.

Next up, Edgy.

Track pants are typically not edgy at all (and these ones definitely aren't), but throw on a leather jacket and your outfit instantly has some edge. You could also try some strappy, edgy shoes, a spiked necklace, or a leather embellished top to add some edginess to your look!

And finally, Bohemian.

I love the laid back vibe of this look, with an unstructured feminine blouse, and some simple brown wedges. This look was inspired by the gorgeous Mara of M Loves M. You could also try a peasant style blouse that flares out at the waist, like her crocheted top, and some strappy flat sandals.

Now hop over to Melissa's blog to check out three more ways to wear track pants, including tips for some of you pregnant mamas!

RAIDING MY SISTER'S CLOSET: ALTERNATIVE TO JEANS

During the fall, jeans and boots are a staple for me. In fact, jeans are typically a year-round staple for me. But in the last few months, I've added several pairs of pants to my closet that aren't blue jeans, and found myself reaching for those more often than regular old jeans. I hardly recognize myself.

So today let's talk about some alternatives to blue jeans. With all the colored and patterned jeans out there, you can still feel comfortable while still trying something different. But since I always like to push myself out of my comfort zone and try new trends, I thought I'd try out a persha pant. I've only recently starting seeing people wearing these, and although I didn't love them at first, they've really grown on me and I actually really love them now. They're a perfect dress up with heels or dress down with sandals pant, and they're super comfy.

I saw this pair from Bloomingdale's recently and then found a nearly identical fabric at Jenny's fabrics, so then I just had to make them. This pair was a total trial run since I hadn't made a pair of pants since probably 1995 (literally), and had no clue if they would turn out or not, but I'm really thrilled with the end result. And now that I've done my trial run, I'm planning to make a few pairs for fall and make a full tutorial to go along with it. So stay tuned!
