Yesterday was a good day. Sundays are always good days, but yesterday was special. My sweet grandpa, who was eighty-eight years old, and had suffered from kidney failure for a while, quietly passed away. Only an hour or so before I heard from my dad telling me the news, I was laying in bed, slowly waking up, and felt my little baby move inside me for the first time.
I spent the whole day thinking about these two events -- life entering a tiny growing body, and life leaving an old and well-lived one. I don't even know how to describe my feelings from the day except that I felt grateful for life and for family, and especially for the knowledge of life after death (and before birth) that my church gives me. Such a special day.
